At Odds

Life is not always even so then you're at odds.
I do know my reasons but will not divulge.
With who, what if, how come, when, why & where?
Those are some questions that I may indulge.

Life is a journey that brings good times and bad.
There are happy moments and also some sad.

One should try to get past the phobias,
fears and any malevolence.
You could then gain new knowledge,
a continuity, and some balance.

Approach all your journeys with that in the front of your mind.
It may make things easier as you deal with the daily grind.

Fortune's Facts

I'm not a big fortune cookie fan really but I had a few from a visit to LeeAnn Chin and decided to read the forunes at least. I find that they just aren't really fortunes anymore but here's what they had to say.

"Your brain is a receiver for infinite intelligence".

Aren't fortunes supposed to tell you good things that you don't already know? I know that my brain is a receiver for intelligence, isn't everyone's? If only it would retain all the intelligence that it receives... now there is a little something that would be worthy of a fortune.

"Diplomacy is the art of letting someone have your way."

It doesn't really seem like a fortune, it's more of a definition of sorts, but it basically says you get your way so how can you not appreciate that:-)

The last one said that "LeeAnn Chin caters" so think of them for your next function would ya??

LOL, I just find that funny for some reason.

Ok, now for the did you know fact for today:

A sheep, a duck and a rooster were the first passengers in a hot air balloon.

Does this one strike anyone else as the opening to some crazy joke?? I can picture some crazy person sitting at a bar telling someone innocent bystander that joke. Let me tell ya, it doesn't have a pretty ending.

It's Crazy Up In Here

My brain sometimes works in mysteriously strange ways and it doesn't always make sense in the beginning but sometimes in the end it all becomes clear. Well, clear to me anyways. Such is the way of the path my brain took today with some of the did you know facts that came up on my space. They change each time you go in & the 2 that came up for me are so different from eachother but for some reason my brain just started linking the 2 together & it turns out that they are more related than one would think. It would sort of be in a 6 degrees of separation sort of way but I don't ask why, I just accept it as creativity:-) So here are the 2 that came up & my thought process that ended up linking them:

In Kentucky, it is illegal to carry ice cream in your back pocket.

Yeah, not sure why they'd come up with a law like that so I did a little checking & while I found some interesting info, none of it explained the law really. It may however provide another meaning for the saying "Can I get some fries with that shake?". What do you think??

The average person changes their career every thirteen years.

I've been in my current 'career' for almost 17 years (just 2 months shy). So I read this & take it as proof that I'm above average. SCORE!

Ok, there are the did you know facts (with some little side comments of course) now here is where my brain went with it all and in the end I just may have discovered the reason for the goofy law!

I've been with my current employer for 16 years & 10 months so it's 2 months short of 17 years. Well 17, minus the 2 leaves me with 15 & guess what that is? It's how old I was when I began working for Baskin Robbins back in my yonder years. It just so happens that Kentucky was also the 15th state added to the Union, in 1792 (1st degree).

If you transpose the 7 & 9 in 1792 you get 1972 and July 26th of that year is when I was born (2nd degree).

I then discovered Kentucky is ranked in 26th place for those states with the highest population (3rd degree).

For those that may not be aware, Baskin Robbins is an ice cream shop. Per a stupid law website I found I was able to get confirmation that the ice cream law is true for Lexington, Kentucky. (4th degree)

July then becomes of importance because not only is it my month of birth, it's also the month that I began working at the company that I'm currently with. It was right around the 4th of July actually. Well, I found that Lexington, Kentucky has a big celebration for the 4th of July (as most do) and it involves a big ice cream social. (5th degree)

Now Baskin Robbins is known as the home of 31 flavors. I'm not quite sure why because our store always had at least 34 different flavors at any one time. It was the year 2006 when I was actually 34 years old. Well, if you transpose 34 you will get 43 and it was also the year 2006 when Kentucky was ranked as 43rd in the nation for it's per-capita personal income. (6th degree)

So, in conclusion, there are 50 states, 52 if you count Alaska & Hawaii. I'm guessing that since Kentucky was ranked 43rd when it came to income, they most likely didn't have a whole lot of money. So when it came time for the ice cream social the law may have been put into place to avoid the sticky fingers... both literally & figuratively:-)

This all brings me to one other did you know fact I saw today which said:

Once a human reaches the age of 35 he/she will start losing approximately 7,000 brain cells a day. The cells will never be replaced.

Since I am currently 35 & have been for roughtly 9 months & 16 days, that's about 2,030,000 brain cells that I've lost to date. That may just explain why it's so crazy up in here!

Spotted Skunks

So, the did you know fact today says:

Spotted skunks do handstands before they spray.

I figured at least they give you a little trick before they treat you! I found it a little funny so I had to read more on these critters. Thought I'd share a little of what I found in good old Wiki.

Spotted skunks protect themselves by spraying a strong and unpleasant scent. Two glands on the sides of the anus release the odorous oil through nipples. When threatened, the skunk turns its body into a U-shape with the head and anus facing the attacker. Muscles around the nipples of the scent gland aim them, giving the skunk great accuracy on targets up to 15 feet away. As a warning before spraying, the skunk stamps its front feet, raises its tail, and hisses. They may warn with a unique "hand stand"—the back vertical and the tail waving. Skunks store about 1 tablespoon (15 g) of the oderous oil and can quickly spray five times in row. It takes about one week to replenish the oil.

Ok, maybe it's cause I just saw Iron Man the other day or maybe I'm just wierd but does anyone else see a pretty awesome comic villian here... or heroine even????
I totally pictured some chic in a black & white striped cat suit assuming position to spray her target. Ok, so I can be a little strange I know it but come on... if you like the comic stuff you can totally see it too. Just admit it, no one will know:-)

Spotted Skunk defensive posturing (handstanding)

It's sort of cute isn't it? Now I'll be thinking of my new comic book story all night long, way to go Melanie!! I already have the idea of how the chic stumbles across the spotted skunk & becomes the next comic legend... move over Cat Woman!!!!
